Making small swaps at home can make a huge difference to the amount of single use plastics we use.
These fabric sandwich bags are a great alternative to the plastic bags we use and throw away and are fun and easy to make.
You will need:
2 pieces of fabric – cut to 8×14 inches scissors, thread, ruler, pencil, pins sewing machine
Place the two pieces of fabric right side together and pin all the way around. Using a 1/4 inch seam, sew all the way around, making sure to leave a one-two inch opening that can be used for turning.
Remove pins and turn fabric right side out using a pencil to push the corners out. Iron flat.
Lay the rectangle out on the table, fold the bottom up about 5 inches. Fold the top down to create the pocket opening. Pin the sides.
Using a 1/8 inch seam, sew up both sides of the snack bag. Trim threads and that’s it!
If required, Velcro, buttons and zips can be added after to secure.
